Public Information Grants

The Committee awards grants to individuals or teams for projects geared to promote the dissemination of information and knowledge; the grant is mainly intended to cover human input. Eligible projects include products popularising science, e.g. books, radio and television programmes, articles in newspapers/periodicals, and electronic publications. The grants are not intended for fiction, scientific work, textbooks or translations. Translation grants are awarded for example by FILI.

In addition, the Committee offers fore six-month scholarships. These half-year scholarships make it possible to concentrate full-time and professionally in non-fiction books and other products for a fixed period.

Grants for non-fiction books and other products for children and youngsters are awarded to projects, whose objective is to produce non-fiction products targeted specially for children and youngsters. Projects may include professionals from different fields, such as writers, illustrators and graphic designers. The objective of project work is to encourage the publication of non-fiction products wit high production costs.

Size and amount of grants

In 2012 altogether 165 000 euros were granted. A half-year scholarship is the same size as a state grant for artist, 10 000 euros. Grants for individual projects are generally smaller than scholarships, and the size of them is defined by the object applied for.
